“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6,7)
After reading the passage above my mind keeps going back to the expression “in Christ Jesus” which is used twice. This is not the first time Apostle Paul uses the same expression in the same letter. He writes in chapter one verse 1 “to the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus.” And, we read in verse 3 that the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ “has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Verse 13a is also noteworthy: “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation”.
Let me tell you that there is no greater blessing than to be in Christ Jesus! Yet, it does not cost a fortune to be included in Christ Jesus but the fortune it entails is mind blowing or “incomparable”.
See, anyone who is in Christ Jesus needs to know that God raised you up with Christ, when he rose him from the dead, and God seated you up with him in the heavenly realms, as he exalted his name above all names. It means that you are alive spiritually -hence you can hear the voice of God and see his glory, you are no longer spiritually dead! And, you are seated spiritually with Christ in the heavenly realms, even as you read these words -yours is a position of spiritual authority and the devil, principalities, and demons know it. The question is: Do you know it?
We need to understand that God works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will. In other words, everything God does has purpose. In this case, God’s purpose is to show, or make visible, “the incomparable riches of his grace expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
The grace of God is expressed in his kindness to those in Christ Jesus for his [Jesus Christ] sake and it consists of incomparable riches. God plans to show the whole creation the riches of his grace to us. The kind of riches that Satan and the world cannot offer you. We’re talking about the power to heal, cast out demons, thwart or cancel the devil’s plans, cancel curses, speak out blessings for prosperity over individuals, families, businesses, expose and frustrate the works of darkness, restore sight to the blinds and hearing to the deaf,…. It is important to know that we can only have, and claim, in the physical realm what we are given in the spiritual realm….
Lord Jesus grant us to understand God’s purpose in our being in Christ and the grace to live accordingly.
