Most people feel that life in the world is a never-ending struggle, but Christians more so than the rest of the world. Hence, we often describe death as a resting place after facing the hardship of life. Why is this so?
Writing to Christians in Ephesus apostle Paul remarks: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)
Yes, the struggle is not a figment of our imagination. It is real. However, it is against invisible spiritual entities, that is, not flesh and blood (human beings). The point had to be made because the enemy we struggle against and all the powers and demons under him use flesh and blood to frustrate, stop, cause havoc in the world or our lives, but we need to know that they are not the tool they use.
It is important that we get this point right so we do not lose sight of the real enemy and become distracted by focusing on the wrong target and, therefore, lose in the struggle, as is often more the case than not.
Yes, the struggle is real but it is not a hopeless one as far as we are concerned as Christians in the world. God has provided us with his full armour for victory. It is made of seven weapons only: the belt of truth, the breast plate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. These are the only weapons we need to overcome our struggle, nothing else. Using them daily has potential to transform your life into an exciting adventure on earth.
It is important to note that, whilst six of the weapons are mainly for our defence, only one of them can deal our enemy the decisive blow and always guarantee daily victory. I am talking about the word of God or sword of the Spirit.
Note that the word of God is not the sword of “flesh and blood” but of the Spirit, it is the deadliest spiritual weapon at our disposal. Hence, the Kingdom of darkness’ main purpose is to keep it from us.
Without the word of God the Spirit (God’s empowering presence) has not weapon to defeat the devil in your life. No flesh and blood can fight spiritual entities and win except through the power of the Spirit of God using His sword, that is, the word of God.
Hence, you will notice that the word of God (the bible) has been under constant attacks and ridicule in an attempt to discredit it. Yet, the more the word of God is discredited and rejected, the more evil seems to increase in the world -no wonder! Have you not been noticing that you are being bombarded with all kinds of problems to the extent that you do not have time to feed on the word of God and memorise it for the Spirit of God living in you to use through you towards your daily victories?
Yes, you have the best spiritual weapon at your disposal. Make sure you use it daily.
You do not need to compromise with the devil to have breakthrough in your life by turning to herbalists, juju men, witchcraft, or any other means that do not glorify God. The fact is, once you compromise with the devil he will not leave you alone until he crushes you completely….
When he was tempted by the devil the Lord Jesus simply said “it is written”, thus showing us how to use the word of God for victory. And Matthew 4:11 notes: “Then the devil left him and angels came and attended him.” May this be your portion in Jesus name!
I pray that the Lord grant us the grace to understand that we cannot afford to live in this world without clinging to the word of God. May He grant you to learn and know how to use the Word of God to pull down spiritual strongholds and thwart the devil’s evil plans against your life, family, community and country, in Jesus name!
