I received the following whilst on my knees in prayer this morning: I heard that the Holy Spirit is the key to impactful living and ministry. Hence, the Lord Jesus Christ told his disciples, “But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counsellor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” -John 16:7
Theologians rightly describe the Holy Spirit as “God’s empowering presence” in believers (Christians). And, Apostle John describes him in 1 John as the “Anointing” or Teacher.
It is important to understand that the Holy Spirit is the one who establishes God’s people in the fullness of God’s will. Establish you in the fullness of God’s will for your life is the mission of the Holy Spirit on earth.
He is the Anointing but not the only anointing active on earth (consider for instance Moses and Pharaoh’s magicians and Matthew 7:22, 23). However, what distinguishes the Holy Spirit as “the Anointing” from other “anointing” is precisely the fact that he establishes people in the fullness of God’s will for them -or make us like Jesus Christ-, which is what other “anointings” cannot do…..
The other “anointings” can “heal, deliver, prophesy, do wonders and miracles” -but in service to the disguised kingdom of darkness- but they will and cannot establish anyone in the fullness of the will of God.
An impactful ministry is one that reproduces the character of Jesus Christ in members. And, impactful living is all about living like Jesus Christ on earth. Accordingly, we cannot afford to ignore the Holy Spirit as seems the case nowadays. We are called to focus on the fruits of the Spirit (character) as much as on the works of the Spirit (signs and wonders) if we are to impact our generation for God and always keep one step ahead of the enemy of the world the devil or Satan.
Lord pour out the Holy Spirit on “all flesh” just as you said through Prophet Joel so that we will be established in the fullness of your will for our lives, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
